Navy Craftsman

I first met this couple five years before we broke ground. They knew what they wanted—an extensive remodel that would transform their home—but the timing wasn't right. Five years later, they called me back, ready to move forward.

They both work from home and needed dedicated offices. They wanted to plan ahead for aging parents, so her office at the back of the house was designed to double as a fully equipped in-law suite when needed. With the home backing onto a golf course, opening to those views and bringing in natural light became central to the design. And they loved craftsman elements and the idea of adding a cupola.

We designed an extensive remodel with five bedrooms and those craftsman details woven throughout. A cupola over the entrance stairway adds plenty of natural light by day and is lit at night with cove lighting, defining both the interior and exterior. Large windows throughout capture the golf course views and flood the interior with light. Working within the constraints of an existing structure meant creative solutions for ceiling heights and spatial flow, but the result is a home that feels open and thoughtful.
